When Should Kids Visit The Dentist In Oahu?

Good oral hygiene begins with proper brushing and flossing habits from an early age. Kids should visit the dentist when they are between the ages of 2 and 6. This is when their teeth are coming in and their oral hygiene needs to be corrected.

Older kids should also visit the dentist if they have any problems with their teeth, such as cavities or decay. You can contact the Oahu’s most referred pediatric dentists by doing some research online. Parents should make sure that their children have regular check-ups with a pediatric dentist.

Here are some tips on how you can help your kids maintain their dental hygiene and oral health:

1. Make sure everyone knows about proper brushing techniques for teeth and gums.

2. Be sure to brush all surfaces of teeth, including the back and sides where plaque can accumulate.

3. Teach children to floss daily, using a gentle tooth-brush style if they prefer it.

4. Discuss with your child the importance of visiting a dentist regularly (at least once every six months), especially if they experience any pain or bleeding from their teeth or gums.

There is also an association between childhood tooth decay and obesity. Kids who have cavities or decay may be more likely to develop obesity later in life. You can help prevent childhood tooth decay by brushing your child's teeth and keeping them well hydrated.

Children should also get screened for cavities at age two and three. Dentists can diagnose and treat dental problems early, which can save your child from future problems.
